Next Generation Recoil Rigs are designed for optimal balance and comfort when shoulder mounted or on a tripod. With lenses and cameras being similar weights, the balance point approximately is where the lens meets the camera body. In a Recoil rig, the balance point needs to be directly over your shoulder which puts the camera behind you. This requires focus, monitoring and camera controls to be relocated forward, creating a lighter and shorter rig. Next Generation Recoil rigs are compatible with all cameras from a mirrorless to a camera the size of an ALEXA. This rig category covers many differently sized and shaped cameras, and our VCT Pro baseplate is compatible with them all. Smaller camcorders in particular can benefit from the balance and adjustability of our baseplate, especially when using longer, heavy lenses. Cameras with built in shoulder pads, like the AJA Cion, require you to essentially balance the entire camera weight in your hands. This seriously limits the length of time you can work shoulder-mounted. Correctly balance these cameras by adding the VCT Universal. You’ll immediately notice how much lighter your rig feels.
Next Generation Recoil Rigs - The Cine Mini EVF Recoil
The Cine Mini EVF Recoil rig is compatible with cameras with a built in, sturdy top handle with screw holes along the top. These camera include the Panasonic DVX200, Blackmagic Ursa Mini, Sony FS700, Sony PXW-X200, AJA Cion and more. The universal fit and adjustability of our VCT Pro baseplate and other accessories means this one rig easily fits all of these cameras. A solid top handle is an essential part of any functioning shoulder mounted rig. For cameras without a top handle or cameras with sub-par handles, we add our Recoil Handle. This sturdy, adjustable grip is rock solid, and with multiple mounting options is practically universal. But, many camera companies still get the top handle right and create robust top handles, often with incorporated features and functions. The Cine Mini EVF Recoil is perfect for those cameras. Attach our 3” Z-Rail and Z-Rail Rod Lock 90 adapter to the camera top handle and you'll be ready to fully 'Recoil' your camera!
